Technical Reports or Papers (in progress)

  1. To classify major land cover at regional level with AVHRR/NDVI multi-year archive temporal profile analysis -- the capability and limits

Abstract: Most of the land cover classifications based on AVHRR/NDVI temporal profile analysis were applied to country to global scales. Almost all of such applications have low accuracy. After trying to classify major land cover over the Upper Midwest RESAC region with a relative high accuracy (at least 85%) by using the 7-year bi-weekly 1 km resolution AVHRR/NDVI data, we found that the data is not quite qualified for this task with the methods we used.

  2. Time synchronization of MVC processed AVHRR/NDVI data in multi year temporal analysis

Abstract: Time synchronization is critical to MVC processed AVHRR/NDVI when applying this data on multi year profile analysis. Synchronization methods and results assessment is addressed in this paper.

  3. Overview of the research of multi-year AVHRR/NDVI data

Abstract: Papers related to AVHRR/NDVI data processing and applications are gathered for this overview. THe papers were published in major remote sensing journals in the last decade. Some promising trends of MODIS data application was also addressed in this overview.

  4. An integrated vegetation condition analysis system

Abstract: An integrated system was designed to facilitate dynamic spatial-temporal analysis of multi variables. Access/SQL Server, VB/VC, ArcGis, S Plus, ERDAS and MapServer was integrated to store, query, analysis and visualize multi tier data, such as NDVI, NDVI anomaly, plant stress, temperature, precipitation, and crop yield. System design, technical design, algorithms analysis and other implementation details of this system was addressed.
