Organization Two proposals were submitted to the NASA Regional Earth Science Applications Center Program: Both proposals were favorably reviewed and selected by NASA with the understanding that they be merged into one Upper Midwest RESAC. In addition to being in the same geographic region, the proposals were complementary: one emphasized modeling, the other monitoring, and both included agriculture, forestry, and water resources. The goal of the Midwest Center project is to develop integrated, science-based resource management models that have economic and environmental ramifications. The goal of the Upper Great Lakes project is to develop remote sensing and geospatial analysis tools, Internet delivery, and technology transfer methods for incorporating EOS-era remote sensing into resource management. Through the integrated RESAC, both projects are providing natural resource managers with prototype models and products derived from EOS and other remote sensing data, as well as conducting workshops and training to disseminate and transfer information and capability to the user agencies and cooperating partners in the proposals.
